Drei Wochen nachdem Stefan Mücke zum Auftakt der diesjährigen Le Mans Series (LMS) in Barcelona (6. April) auf dem Podest jubeln konnte, peilt der Berliner Sportwagenpilot am kommenden Wochenende (25. bis 27. April) Ähnliches bei der zweiten Station im italienischen Monza an.
Der 26-Jährige, der beim 1000-Kilometer-Rennen auf dem Circuit de Catalunya zusammen mit dem Tschechen Jan Charouz im geschlossenen LMP1-Sportwagen-Prototypen Lola – Aston Martin vom Team Charouz Racing System Dritter hinter zwei Diesel-Werks-Autos von Peugeot und Audi geworden war, weiß aber um die Schwere der Aufgabe.
„Wenn alle vier Diesel-Autos ins Ziel kommen, ist für uns ein Platz auf dem Podest wohl nicht drin. Doch ein Sechs-Stunden-Rennen über 1000 Kilometer ist lang. Da kann viel passieren. Auf jeden Fall wollen wir das beste von einem Benzinmotor angetriebene Fahrzeug ins Ziel bringen.”
Am dem 5,793 km langen Traditionskurs von Monza (20 km nördlich von Mailand) stehen für die Piloten nach dreimal jeweils einstündigem freien Training (Freitag und Samstag) am Samstagnachmittag (26. April) das 20-minütige Qualifying und am Sonntag (27. April) ab 12.50 Uhr das Rennen auf dem Programm. „Ich denke, wir sind sehr gut vorbereitet. Die Ingenieure von Aston Martin Racing sowie alle im Charouz-Team machen tolle Arbeit und wollen wieder erfolgreich abschneiden”, betont Stefan Mücke, der vor zwei Wochen noch eine andere Premiere erfolgreich gestaltet hatte.
Bei seinem ersten Renneinsatz auf der Nürburgring-Nordschleife (12. April) hatte er einen Klassensieg zum Auftakt der BFGoodrich Langstreckenmeisterschaft eingefahren. Zusammen mit Tomas Enge und Chris Porritt aus Großbritannien gewann er im seriennahen Aston Martin Vantage N24 in der Klasse SP8. Dies bedeute für das Trio am Ende des Vier-Stunden-Rennens Platz 22 in der Gesamtwertung unter insgesamt 230 Teilnehmern.
Der Berliner bestreitet als Werksfahrer von Aston Martin für das Team Charouz Racing System die LMS-Saison und tritt zusammen mit Jan Charouz und Tomas Enge (beide Tschechien) auch bei den legendären 24 Stunden von Le Mans Mitte Juni an. Dort hatte Stefan Mücke im Vorjahr als bester Rookie auf Platz 5 in der LMP1-Klasse für Furore gesorgt.
