17.04.2008: KS Motorsport -Provisional withdrawal for SRO GT4

KS Motorsport will be travelling to Silverstone this weekend where the opening round of the SRO GT4-championship is being held. The team had planned to enter 2 Ginetta G50s in GT4, shod with slicks, however the refusal by SRO to allow the cars to compete in GT4 resulted in the Belgian importer Carsons Motors and the KS Motorsport team to provisionally withdraw form the competition.

Koen Leyssens (team manager): “Following a meeting with our Belgian importer Carsons Motors, who are supporting KS Motorsport’s national and international programme, we have decided to provisionally withdraw from entering the SRO GT4.

SRO had opted for the Ginetta G50 to enter in the GT4 Light, where in fact the cars need to be fitted with grooved tyres. This does not fit in with the importer’s commercial and marketing strategy.”

Benny Smets (importer): “There’s no sense in us competing in the GT4 Light class.

In no way would this portray the make in a positive light, and would deaden the entire marketing potential of an eventual motorsport’s programme We are always prepared to sit around a table to find a win-win solution for all parties concerned, without obviously any pressure being applied by any of the parties involved.”

KS Motorsport will communicate whether they might eventually compete in the event.
